Gear

The gear buying never seems to stop.

Until now.

I hope.

I think we're about done buying gear. (fingers crossed)

Backpacks...check (and it only took 5 trips to Pack Rat)
Sleep system...check...I think
Tent...check
Cook System...check
Clothes...check
Trekking Poles...check

If we had to leave tomorrow, we could. Our base weights seem pretty reasonable. The good news it that they will only get lighter. I have a few things I might like to trade out for lighter or more packable things.

I even got a new pair of glasses that should be lighter, more sturdy, and less likely to slide down my nose all the time.

If my backpack weren't in my gear closet, I would probably be constantly staring at it and dreaming of the trail. (As if that weren't happening already)

.....

Foot update.

It still hurts. It has been a week and a half and it doesn't seem any better than when I first noticed it. I've been walking super slow for the past few days, drawing some strange looks from students. Walking this slowly, it would probably take me twice as long to hike the trail. If it doesn't start feeling better soon, I'm afraid we might have to push back our start date. I don't like the idea of that, but starting late is better than never starting at all.

56 days to Maine... hopefully.
