It just got real
Over the last 2 days my trip just got real. Monday I told my principal that I wouldn't be returning to teach next year. Today I told my students I wouldn't be returning next year. Once I figure out a realistic last contract day I will start making plans for getting to Maine.
Right now I am hoping to start my hike at some point between June 15 and June 21.
The hike in question is a thru hike of the Appalachian Trail, going Southbound from Mount Katahdin in Maine, 2,190 miles roughly southwest through 14 states to Springer Mountain in Georgia.
I've been fantasizing about this trip for 8 or 9 years. I never thought I would have the chance until I was retired. When everything unfolded the way it did I took it as a sign that this trip was meant to happen.
It just got real!
